How do I upgrade my BlackBerry software?

Before you start the new Software Upgrade Process, please ensure that you have completed the following steps:

  • Go to ‘Options’
  • Click on ‘Advanced Options’
  • Click ‘Service Book’
  • If ‘On Device Portal’ is listed, follow steps 5 and 6. Otherwise press the Esc button 3 times
  • Highlight ‘On Device Portal’, press the BlackBerry Menu button and click ‘Delete’.  Click ‘Delete’ again
  • Press the Esc button 3 times.

 

Having completed the above, you can now upgrade your BlackBerry® Storm smartphone via WebSL as follows:

 

  • Browse to http://worldwide.blackberry.com/update/blackberrystorm.jsp on your PC
  • Click on ‘check for updates’
  • You will then have the option to ‘run’ or ‘save’ the application loader file.  Save to the PC. Then double click on the saved file to run it (this stage is only required the first time you use the application)
  • Connect your BlackBerry Storm smartphone via USB cable to PC

If prompted for password insert device p/w if none set leave blank

  • Select the update file required (latest is always selected by default)
  • Advanced users may wish to configure advanced items – otherwise click ‘Next’
  • You can then subscribe to receive notifications when further updates become available. Select ‘Yes, sign me up’ and enter your email address or select ‘not at this time’
  • Click ‘Finish’ to begin the upgrade
  • Note that your BlackBerry Storm smartphone cannot be used whilst the upgrade is taking place.

 

Please Note: Software Upgrade Process can only take place if you are using Microsoft® Internet Explorer v0.6 or above.
