FAQ: It won't work for me on Windows Vista - Vodafone Ireland

It won't work for me on Windows Vista

When installing the modem you may get a message saying:

"An unidentified program (VMC) wants access to your computer, do you want to allow this?"

Please ensure you click Yes.

If you click No, this will stop the software from working correctly and the modem will not connect.

If you have clicked No then please follow the below steps

Uninstall software:

  • Click the Start button
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Click Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list
  • Select the Vodafone Software by left clicking it
  • Click Remove (above the list)

Then plug out the modem and Restart the computer

Log in if prompted

Wait for the computer to fully restart

Re-install software:

  • Plug the modem back in
  • The install shield wizard will then appear (If this does not appear go to Start > My Computer > Open the CD labelled Vodafone or VMC and then Open Setup)

If this still did not fix the problem, you may be using an old version of the E220 modem. In this case you will need a firmware & software update which you can find here
